Planning Board
Guilford has a very active planning board. After several years of dormancy, the planning board in Guilford has bounced back to life. Charged with rewriting a land use ordinance that would clarify past confusion and clearly state the wishes of the general public in matters as varied as minimum lot sizes to how many signs an establishment may erect, they put their shoulders to the wheel and created a new ordinance appropriate for the times. Now with a goal of creating a Comprehensive Plan, they have been meeting monthly since 2002 to review building permits, interpret rules, answer questions and provide assistance to all property owners, while they chip away at the various aspects required in their broader objective.
The current board consists of Chairman Matt Holland, Richard Panciera, Edwin Davis, and Lou Sidell and Code Enforcement Officer, Keith Doore at their monthly meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Guilford Town Office.
Should a permit be denied or an order disputed, an aggrieved party may file an appeal. The Board of Appeals meets only by request and is staffed by Eric Curtis and Paul Stearns.
Copies of all town ordinances are available at the town office and any of the board members above would be happy to answer any questions you may have. They are all working for the betterment of our community so feel free to take advantage of their knowledge.
